Questions people ask

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a share of the selling price. Markup is profit as a share of the cost. Buying at ₹800 and selling at ₹1,000 is a 25% markup but only a 20% margin.

How do I find the price for a 30% margin?

Divide the cost by 0.7. A product that costs ₹700 must sell for ₹1,000 to give a 30% margin.

Is GST added before or after the discount?

After. GST is charged on the discounted price, which is how this calculator works it out.

Is it free?

Yes, free with no limit and no signup.
